Description
The initial LOM facility, launched in 2009 with 182 moulding machines, was designed to fulfill The LEGO Group's capacity needs for the foreseeable future. Yet, rapid sales growth soon prompted expansion plans. An adjacent building in a nearby industrial park was identified, leading to a new moulding facility project. Preparations began in late 2009, with board approval granted in May 2010. A cross-functional project team from Facility, Engineering, and Production was formed between May and July. Construction commenced on July 14, 2010, and the first phase was prepared for infrastructure installation by January 2011. Work continued through September 2011, culminating in completion after just 14 months.
