Description
In 1962, the LEGO Group acquired its first dedicated aircraft, a Piper Aztec OY-FAV, to streamline international travel for its growing workforce. Recognizing the limitations of sharing a Piper Apache, owner Godtfred Kirk Christiansen established an airfield in Billund to reduce employee travel time. Pilots Hans Erik Christensen and Hans Jørgen Christensen traveled to the United States with a check for DKK 453,000, purchased the plane in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and piloted it on its transatlantic journey home via Boston, Gander, and Shannon.
