His crew readies the swift schooner, *Sea Ghost*, with nets and grapples, while a second, smaller sloop hides within a fog-shrouded cove as a lookout. The empire, confident in its galleon's strength, remains unaware that the pirates have bribed a disgruntled dockhand for the ship's secret departure time and its precious cargo manifest: a chest of uncut jewels meant for the emperor's coronation. As the galleon enters the narrow channel, the *Sea Ghost* emerges from behind a rocky outcrop, cutting off its escape. Cannons roar, not to sink the vessel, but to shred its sails.
